The Carlmark Family

Cosumnes River Preserve

In between photographing weddings, you can usually find me working on family portrait sessions.  Most of the time they are referred to me by another client, but this time I was contacted by another Sacramento photographer, Courtney Carlmark.  I knew right away that I wanted her to take my family photos as well, so we decided to make it a double session. We met before sunset at Cosumnes River Preserve, just south of Sacramento.  It was a gorgeous evening, the light was perfect, and the location was even better! I had only been out to the preserve to do some observing for an ecology course (a long time ago!) and once to take my daughter out with some friends.  There was an amazing wooden walkway to a really cool bridge, along with many pathways leading through oak trees and pretty golden grasses. 

The evening was so fun, we did more talking then photographing…and our girls hit it off right away. Courtney is from Montana and Rob is a local celebrity doing the news here in Sacramento. Their daughter is just the most adorable thing with her mom’s big brown eyes! Here are some highlights from the evening. I will also be posting photos of MY family in an upcoming blog!
