Moroccan Styled Bridal Shower

Planning the ultimate ladies party is pretty fun when you can go over the top with a theme like Moroccan! Sometimes we go a bit more subdued for the wedding color palate, so it’s fun to live it up at the bridal shower. This private restaurant patio was a beautiful setting for a party. Many restaurants let you rent out their patio, so this is a great option!

Apple Hill! Camino, CA Summer Wedding

I admit it, I am a little behind in blogging weddings! It is not summer, it is winter. But you know, a girl gets busy and blogging gets put to the bottom of the to-do list. So here is a summer wedding to warm you up, since it is cold and rainy here in Northern California. And yay for rain and snow! Keep it coming, we don’t like this horrible drought.

There is not much I love more than the mountains, so this wedding was in the perfect foothill location in Camino, CA…right in our very own Apple Hill. Most people know this area for it’s apple pies, like mama Vicky makes at Apple Pantry Farm, which we passed on the way there. The wedding was at a private residence, which was surrounded by wooded areas and amazing greenery. When your neighbor has a Christmas tree farm, you can consider yourself pretty lucky!

This wedding was a group of friends that we had already photographed weddings for, so it was nice to see familiar people and catch up since we last saw them. I had trouble picking photos for this blog…the people were awesome and the scenery was pretty great too.

Instead of regular seating for the ceremony, they gathered a bunch of quilts and spread them over the grassy hill. It made the ceremony very casual and unique.

It was a beautiful and emotional wedding ceremony and I could see that afterwards, everyone was ready to party celebrate! 😉

This wedding was one where the toasts stood out to me. You didn’t need to be an insider to see how strong these friendships are…they all had me tearing up!

Loomis Flower Farm Inn Wedding

fun-wedding-photo-booth-photography_0158

Wedding flowers are one of my favorite things about a wedding (my college personality exam said I should be a florist!) so when they are as breathtaking as these were, I can’t stop taking photos of them!  This time the flowers were done by someone special…the groom! Brandon is an amazing floral designer at Morningside Florist and he was able to make a perfect balance of casual (farm style wedding) and elegant. Plus, succulents were a main feature in the reception hall, so of course it was awesome!

These arrangements speak for themselves, and they were the perfect backdrop to the quaint venue–Loomis Flower Farm Inn. This was my first time photographing a wedding here and it is a great place to have a casual yet picturesque wedding. And if you love gardens and flowers like I do, there is an abundance of beautiful spots for taking photos.

The guests were welcomed with lush arrangements in wooden trunks. They were framed with antique windows and wine barrels. The combination of greenery, flowers, succulents, wood, and glass made this area feel very inviting.

The ceremony aisle was perfectly adorned with mason jars and gorgeous hydrangeas and roses. fun-wedding-photo-booth-photography_0159

Inside the farmhouse, there were wooden boxes with floral arrangements in corals and greens. Lambs ears, hydrangeas, succulents, and roses were a few of the plants used. fun-wedding-photo-booth-photography_0165

The favors were succulents in small jars…the perfect touch to make the table look great. fun-wedding-photo-booth-photography_0164

The bridal bouquet was soft and elegant.fun-wedding-photo-booth-photography_0160

And the coral bridesmaid bouquets were bright and fun with pops of gold leaf clusters and pearls. fun-wedding-photo-booth-photography_0161

Loomis Flower Farm Inn…A country wedding venue

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the Loomis Flower Farm Inn. I had never been to this venue before and I was excited to see what it was all about. Not far from Sacramento, the property was perfect for a quaint outdoor wedding with all of the comforts of home. A country home that is! I loved this place and I took a few snapshots of the little vintage details that made the place unique. While I am not quite ready to post the wedding photos, I thought I would sneak in some quick photos I took while walking around. I can’t wait to photograph another wedding at the Flower Farm Inn!

The gardens everywhere made many perfect backdrops for photos. In one garden there was a rusted little vintage tricycle that caught my eye. I am sure some kiddos had fun riding this a long time ago!

The main house was amazing and the guest cottages were so cute! Perfect for wedding guests or family to stay. These fluffy little chickens were roaming the grounds!

I can imagine a yummy post wedding day brunch in this spacious dining room in the main house!

Vintage Flower Girl Dress–from 70’s to today

flower girl rose bouquet

I hold on to things for sentimental reasons. One of those things I have kept is a flower girl dress from a neighbor’s wedding I was in as a small child. My neighbor Janet was also my baby sitter and very good friend. She had her sister make a soft sky blue linen dress for me with an antique lace collar and cuffs. I remember parts of the wedding at the historical courthouse building, and I remember the dress.

Being that my daughter is the same age right now, I thought it would be a nice tribute to have her wear my vintage 70’s flower girl dress. My neighbor still holds a very special place in my heart, so what better way to show her than to have my daughter wear the dress that I wore. To top it off, we went to the house I grew up in to take the photos in my brother’s rose garden. We made a colorful rose floral crown in pinks and whites. We also hand picked roses for her basket and a small bouquet. These photos are special to me in so many ways. Enjoy!

The Romance of Roses

Rose boquet

When a bride is choosing her flowers, it can be a bit overwhelming. I mean, there really aren’t any flowers that are not beautiful, right? (maybe we should do an ugly flower contest to see who can find one)

Anyway, I have always had an affinity for roses. After all, they are a symbol of love. I also have a brother that is an avid rose grower and aficionado, who grows the most amazing roses. Just walking around collecting for a bouquet, flower crown, or vase full of roses will make your senses go crazy! All of the different smells and color pallets…pure heaven.

I recently did a photo shoot of my daughter in a vintage flower girl dress that I wore at her age when I was in a neighbor’s wedding. We took the photos in my brother’s rose garden. I made a small bouquet out of miniature roses and small rose buds from the leftover roses of her flower crown. The colors, texture, and fragrance that roses emit is a very simple but wonderful pleasure!

Stay tuned for my “flower girl” photos in an upcoming blog!

Pleasant Hill Spring Wedding

Noemi & Joe

Pleasant Hill, CA

What can I say, Noemi and Joe are such fun and laid back people! They were so nice…it was a pleasure to be their wedding photographer!  This wedding was in the beautiful town of Pleasant Hill, CA.  Luckily, the bride and groom had some great ideas for wedding party photo locations and actually went to scout them out ahead of time.  This was awesome for me, as they picked out a couple of really great spots! One was the taproom at The Hop Grenade (one of their favorite places to get a cold beverage and hang out), the other was the beautiful Briones Regional Park.

I quickly learned that when Noemi and Joe first met they shared many interests, including reading and, most importantly, Harry Potter.  Therefore it was natural that they pick Harry Potter as their wedding theme! There were carefully crafted decorations, flower bouquets, boutonnieres, arrangements and centerpieces.

The ceremony was at Christ The King Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill. Afterwards, the reception was at Pleasant Hill Community Center. To call this a community center is misleading.  The high ceiling and wall of windows made a perfect backdrop for the reception.  It was a fun filled evening for everyone, including delicious food and craft beer. The night concluded with the most high energy dancing, I wanted to throw my camera down and join in!

I wish Noemi and Joe the best of luck and forever happiness!  They truly deserve it!  ~Julie

And they lived happily ever after!
